If you’d like to play Brick Breaker on your Blackberry, you can download the game for free. The BrickBreaker game app seems to move around, so search the games section and you’ll find it somewhere in there. The most popular version is the free Brick Breaker game, but there are fancier versions you can pay as well.
Brick Breaker works slightly differently on different Blackberry phones. Depending on the Blackberry you have, the paddle will scroll better or worse. Most are ok, but some glitches can be frustrating from time to time. Occasionally you will move your paddle one direction but it will go the opposite direction. Or, it might go farther than you wanted it to, causing you to lose a life.
Brick Breaker Blackberry games have become extremely popular in recent years. Talk to someone with a Blackberry and they likely have the Brick Breaker game on their phone. This game is very addictive and since it’s free, everyone with a Blackberry seems to play it. It’s a perfect game for playing while you’re waiting in line, at the DMV, or as a replacement for magazines when you’re in the bathroom, lol.
Blackberry Brick Breaker Game Basics
Blackberry Brick Breaker games are essentially like the old pong game for Atari (for those of you old enough to remember that). It’s a simple paddle game, where a ball needs to be hit to break the bricks. There are also metal bricks used that cannot be broken with a ball, but can be destroyed using the Gun capsule.
The goal is to break every brick on each level, for 34 levels. After the first 34 levels are completed, players revert back to level one, and go through all 34 levels again. However, the second time around, the ball bounces faster, sometimes getting extremely fast.
During the first 34 levels, the idea is to accumulate as many lives as possible, to help players get through the second round. If you can get through the second round, the game becomes easy after that. At this point, you’ve essentially conquered the Blackberry Brick Breaker game. From here, earning hundreds of lives and millions of points is entirely possible – if you have the time for it.
To break the game, don’t worry about points. Although players earn 50 points per capsule (power up), points become meaningless once you’re trying to beat the game. If you’re just learning the Brick Breaker game, then beating previous high scores is fun. However, if you get close to breaking through the first two rounds and lose, you’ll also realize that some capsules can be an unnecessary distraction.
Life capsules are always #1. Obviously you can’t continue the Brick Breaker game if you run out of lives, but aside from that, others can actually cause you to lose lives. For example, the Wrap capsule will move the paddle past the walls on the left and right, leaving you in an unwanted position when the ball comes down. The Flip capsule turns your paddle backwards, making it very difficult to hit the ball. While the Flip capsule can be learned, it takes a bit of time to adjust to it. The best idea is to stay away from them entirely.
The Laser capsule is great for clearing out lots of bricks in short time, but don’t rely on them ‘too’ much. It’s easy to focus on shooting bricks, then finding yourself losing a life because you were distracted by it. Also, it’s easy to accidentally move the ball a bit left or right, and just miss the ball. Don’t you feel like a dummy when you do that? So, when you get the Laser, use it when the ball is bouncing around on top of a row of bricks, or when the ball is a ways away. As the ball gets closer, stop firing the laser and focus on the ball.
The Brick Breaker Gun capsule will shoot through metal bricks – very helpful in certain situations. Also, players get 50 points for each brick that is shot with it. However, it can also be a distraction that causes you to lose a life, so use them wisely.
One of my favorite capsules is the Long capsule, which makes the paddle wider. This is a great capsule to get, especially on levels where the bricks come down low or the ball gets crazy fast. As good as it is to have, don’t lose a life because you’re going after the capsule instead of the ball.
Blackberry Phones for Brick Breaker
As far as I know, Brick Breaker is compatible with all Blackberry phones. If you’re in the process of buying a new Blackberry, ask your service provider if the Brick Breaker game is compatible with the Blackberry smart phone you’re thinking about buying.
I still have one of the old 8330 Blackberry phone. Although I’ve wanted to upgrade, I haven’t seen a new Blackberry that I want to take a risk on. You know how it goes with phones, sometimes it’s best to keep your old reliable phone than it is to ‘upgrade’.
